About

HOW MY JOURNEY BEGAN MAY HAVE TO DO WITH A HUMBLE FATHER WHO LOVED TEACHING, AND A STAGE FULL OF LARGE CARDBOARD CUT OUTS OF CHERRY BLOSSOM TREES.

My father was a writer and a historian who also worked with his university’s theatre. When the directors worked on period pieces, they would turn to my dad for fact checking to make sure language and items used in their scripts were historically correct.

During the evenings, it would not be uncommon to hear my father’s gruff voice trailing from his study. He loved eating salty popcorn and drinking a German beer with the director of the play. They could be heard laughing and debating over a word and how it was used during that era.

My mother would usually find me sitting on the wooden floor of my bedroom in the dark, listening intensively. I concluded that whatever they were speaking about must be incredibly exciting, and I wished desperately to be part of it.

It was also common to find my 10-year-old self walking onto the theatre’s set, and examining the many props waiting for an audience. Sometimes my father would work Saturdays, and I was allowed to roam about the building. Luckily for me, the theatre was only a few steps away. One time, I found myself surrounded by cardboard cutouts of cherry blossom trees. I stared upwards at their branches, and imagined that their long arms were reaching up high, to touch the catwalk lights. I remember, I then looked around and noticed that their trunks appeared to be surrounding me in a mystical embrace.

Later, I would sit in the control room, looking down at the actors nervously rehearsing their lines with each other. I watched as their story came to life, and took on shape and meaning.
One could argue that my love of the theatre gave birth to my love of storytelling.

THE NOW/THE PRESENT

MY PASSION HAS AND IS STILL ROOTED IN STORYTELLING. WHETHER IT BE; WRITING, VOICE OVERS, CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT OR MUSIC COMPOSITIONS, I AM ALWAYS ENVISIONING A STORY.

It is both exciting and gratifying for me, to take an idea and mold it into something innovative.

When I am working on a project for you, I will be asking you questions that will give me insight on how you wish to impact your client. For example, what kind of impression do you want to leave with your client, long after the commercial/music/jingle has ended?

I desire to create something that is intentional and unique just for you. My goal is to design a project that speaks to your style and your brand.

Music, voice, and sound, have the power to push the listener forward, by evoking curiosity. Almost all of us on the planet, have listened to a commercial, watched a film, or hummed to a favorite song. If that song or commercial has stirred something inside of us, it is natural for us to want to know more about it. If that potential customer is actively listening to your commercial or project, you have the opportunity to build a solid foundation with that client.

I understand that whether you are selling coffee beans, fixing automobiles, or opening your first yoga studio, you wish to stand out from the rest of the competition. I offer a talent that will take your services/products to the next level.

WHAT IS A MEDIUM?

The intervening substance through which impressions are conveyed to the senses or a force acts on objects at a distance.

I want to be the medium that conveys your message to your listener. Let’s say you are a health specialist and you want to reach clients that are searching for an alternative to pain management. I would collaborate with you so that when they hear about your services, they will think health, relief, joy and well-being.

There is no ceiling to imagination. All one needs is an open mind and a desire to create and mold something new for an audience.

It has and is always exciting for me to tell a story and watch the listener/audience respond with excitement and inquisitiveness. Theatre, books, art, and music have the power to motivate and influence the receiver/listener. That is what I wish to do for you.

My father loved being a professor. No one would know it, but he was a very shy man. However, his love of teaching and writing allowed him to touch the hearts and minds of his students. When my father passed away there were so many memorials held in his honor, I could not attend all of them. But he did not leave me with emptiness, he passed down to me a great gift. And now I have the chance to work with you and bring your products/services to life.

I don’t know what I will be doing in 20 years from now, but I predict I will still be doing some type of storytelling; it could be me telling a story in a children’s hospital or writing a song at 2am in the morning.
Whatever may become of me, I am enjoying the journey and I look forward to beginning one with you.
